Wilbur Strickland, Chief Judge
Wilbur picked up his passion for cars – and for the people associated with them – from his Dad. Years ago, they rebuilt the engine in Wilbur’s first car, a 1965 VW Beetle, and he hasn’t stopped messing around with cars since. Anyone who’s ever rebuilt an engine knows the sheer joy of that first ignition start after hours of working long days and nights with wrenches, oil and gas! As an avid car collector, Wilbur’s devotion to that long-gone VW Beetle is now shared across numerous Porsche cars – including a 356, 944 Turbo, 3.2 Carrera, 928 GTS, 911 GTS plus a few others – and a Ferrari 360 Spider. He’s displayed cars at Amelia Island, Hilton Head Island and the Sandhills Motoring Festival.
When he’s not working on a car or taking a long drive through Lowcountry backroads, he’s at the track with his Porsche Cayman S. The car is certainly better than he is after the various performance tweaks that have been applied by Autometrics in Charleston, SC, and BGB Motorsports in Ormond Beach, FL. Wilbur is a certified Porsche Club of America High-Performance Driver Education (HPDE) instructor, and gets a real kick out of helping students fully enjoy themselves and their cars as they safely master the complexities of the race line, braking and acceleration.
Everything associated with cars is fantastic, and the people are the best part. Wilbur’s an active member of Porsche Club of America (PCA), Ferrari Club of America, Carolina Dreamers Car Club and Lowcountry Oyster & Motorcar Driving Society (LOMDS). On top of all of the good-spirited camaraderie, Wilbur’s often asked to help critique or find a sports car for his friends based on his experiences of buying cars across the country.
To help pay for his car addiction, Wilbur has had a long and successful career in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry – influencing just about everything from cleaning products to chocolates. He’s worked for world-class companies, such as Mondelēz International, Kraft, Cadbury and Procter & Gamble, and has lived in the USA, UK, Switzerland and Belgium. Wilbur presently is the Founder & CEO of Next Result Innovation, LLC, a specialist consulting firm, and helps companies in the USA, UK, Ireland and Israel. Committed to giving back, he’s a member of the Advisory Board of the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business at Georgia College, and is also very involved with his local community via the Board of Directors, Architectural Review Board and Finance Committee. Wilbur has a Chemical Engineering degree and a Master of Business Administration degree. He and his wife, Cindy, live in Hilton Head Island, SC.
