Do you know how Pinehurst began? Get a glimpse behind the doors at what Pinehurst looked like at the turn of the century. We’ve rounded up an even half dozen iconic locations and homes that define Pinehurst. Join us as we let you in behind the doors of some of the locations and cottages that were part of Pinehurst at the turn of the century. At the Tufts Archives you’ll hear and see a little about our founding father and his original idea for Pinehurst. Then take an escorted tour of the Holly Inn, the first hotel that opened to guests on New Year’s Eve in 1895. Next you’ll take a little ride around town stopping at some lovely “cottages” as these first homes in Pinehurst were referred to, along with a 100 Year old church that has been converted to a stately home. Each cottage has its own history and has found its way into today’s world with modern luxuries and amenities. Your tour concludes at the quaint cabin in the village that houses the Sandhills Woman’s Exchange, one of only 20 remaining Woman’s exchanges in the country. This charming cabin was built in 1810 and moved log-by-log to its current location in 1985 where its history continued until it became home to the Sandhills Woman’s Exchange in 1923. Lunch has been served here continuously since that time and today you will find the cabin filled with history and artisan crafts.

SMF Progressive Tapas & Wine Walk Tour – Open to all SMF Participants
Join us for this private, progressive food and wine sampling. Your tasting tour through the Village of Pinehurst includes eight lovely locations serving sips of spring wines expertly paired with small bites. Each wine has been hand selected by the sommelier at Triangle Wine Co. to be paired with the scrumptious small bites that our local farm-to-table chefs have created for you. This evening you’ll have an opportunity to shop at some of our most exclusive locations while sampling bites from the region’s best restaurants. We’ll be featuring a curated selection of Italian Prosecco, Argentinian Malbec, crisp Sauvignon Blanc and a few surprises along the way. May is a perfect month for farm fresh produce and you’ll find delightful bites showcasing our local fare including purple tip asparagus, Camarosa strawberries, local goat cheese and much, much more. This two hour sampling tour through the Village is simply the most delightful way to start off your evening.
